- Prayer is not a performance to put on but a personal conversation to begin
When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. Matthew 6:5
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. Matthew 6:6
- Prayer doesn’t have to be good it just has to be real
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Matthew 6:7
- Prayer doesn’t need to be perfect but it does need to be appropriate
Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,may your name be kept holy. Matthew 6:9
May your Kingdom come soon.May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

- Prayer deals with the junk in our own heart
Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
Matthew 6:12
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
