Theme: You're Not an Employee, You're a Child

Paul uses family language here that should stop you cold: "You are no longer a slave but God's own child." The difference between a slave and a child isn't just legal. It's relational. A slave performs to keep their position. A child belongs regardless of performance. The word Paul uses for "Abba" is the most intimate family word in Aramaic, closer to "Daddy" than the formal "Father." This is the posture God invites you into. Not formal, not distant, not transactional. Close. Secure. Home.

Focus Verse:

"Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir." (v.7)

Prayer Point:

Pray using the word "Abba" or "Father" if that feels more natural. Come to God not with a performance review or a list of things you've done wrong, but simply as a child coming home. Talk to him the way you would talk to a parent who loves you unconditionally. If that's hard because of your own experience with earthly parents, tell him that too.

Action Step:

Notice today how many of your interactions with God feel like an employee reporting to a boss versus a child talking to a parent. When you catch yourself being formal or transactional, pause and start over with: "Father, I'm coming to you as your child, not your employee."
